Chafer grubs can cause extensive damage by feeding on the roots of turf and pasture grasses. Damage can look like drought, and as the feeding continues the areas of infected turf wilt and turn brown. Damaged turf will lift easily because the roots have been eaten away. Animals and birds can also cause extensive secondary damage as they lift the turf looking for the grubs. Eggs are laid by adult chafers or May beetles in May and June, developing into grubs that can be treated from late July onwards with Just Chafer Grub Killer nematodes. The product is watered into the soil beneath the grass. A Hose end applicator fixed to a hose pipe makes treatment to lawns much quicker.
