Although wasps are regarded as a pest throughout the warmer months, they are really only a problem at the end of the summer when the nests begin to vacate. Prior to this, the worker wasps collect carrion to feed the young and help to reduce fly and caterpillar numbers from the garden. As soon as the workers have no more larvae to feed, they turn their attention to fruit, jam, and other sweet substances, and this is when they become a nuisance. Fallen fruit can often hide wasps feeding, so take care when picking up. To avoid wasps attacking your eating or drinking outdoors, place a Just wasp trap in your garden. Position slightly away from where you are eating. This will attract them to the trap and not to your food and drink. The traps contain a natural attractant, once in the trap the wasp runs out of energy and falls into the attractant.
